Those of you who know about startups may have heard of pitch decks. These are the slides you use when you’re trying to “pitch” to get investors.
Last weekend, I got a special assignment from Founders Institute. I had to take my pitch deck, show it to 9 people, revise it, and write about what I learned. It was a very enlightening experience. I had to quickly find people who would give me 15-30 minutes and give me feedback.
I learned that I’ve got a GREAT set of people who are willing to help me at a moment’s notice. I also learned that the people I know are SMART! They’ve got great ideas.
Now my pitch is much better. Next Tuesday I give it to the mentors for the first time. I’ll be talking about “Awakened Innovations, we help nonprofits save time and money by connecting them with high-quality, vetted, service-providers.” Excited to continue my entrepreneurial journey as I continue build my startup.
BTW: Finally got my new url to match my new name, so transferred old blogs over, as well. That’s why it looks like previous posts are all done today.
